CAMPING
ADVENTURES FOR L.I.F.E CAMP ~ Weeklong resident and day camp programs for people with disabilities ages 12 and up. Active program includes swimming, ropes course, kayaking, archery, horseback riding and traditional camp skills. Resident camp held at Friendship Center near Dodgeville. Day camp sessions are at Blue Lotus Farm and Retreat Center near Newburg. One week of day camp especially for young people with autism. Easter Seals Camp Wawbeek provides camping experiences for children and adults ages 7 and up with physical disabilities, cognitive delay and other disabilities. RESIDENTIAL CAMP SANDY WHEELS ~ Mt. Morris ~ Located at Mt. Morris Camp and Conference Center. Serving individuals ages 5 and up having a physical or cognitive disability in Adams, Calumet, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Marquette, Outagamie, Waupaca, Waushara, and Winnebago Counties first and if openings are available outside these counties. Two one-week camp sessions are held each year. Specially trained counselors and volunteers offer special attention to each camper making as normal as possible the camping experience. CAMP WINNEBAGO ~ Caledonia, MN ~ Dedicated to serving the recreational needs of adults and children with developmental disabilities ages 6 - 70. We offer week long residential camping sessions and various travel trips. We offer activities such as swimming, arts and crafts, music and drama, sports, fishing and other nature activities. We specialize in providing a "Fun Though Accomplishment" atmosphere and focus on our campers abilities rather than their disabilities. THE CHRISTIAN DISCIPLE FARM ~ Sullivan ~ This is a day camp for any child with special needs (ages 3-20) and their parents and siblings. The camp is $25 per person (with a max of $100 per family). Activities include: rock wall climbing, fishing, games, nature activities, and crafts. This camp is a day camp/vacation bible school that is held from Aug. 11-15, 2008 at Raspberry Hill Farm near Sullivan, WI. FOX VALLEY DAY RESPITE ~ Appleton ~ These sessions are open to individuals with moderate to severe disabilities. The program is coordinated by Easter Seals' Assistant Respite Coordinator and a registered nurse will be on site throughout the day, which runs from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Lunch and snack is provided. Participants may sign up for a single Saturday or for as many as all six. Easter Seals Respite Services gives parents and caregivers time away from the stresses of caring for a loved one (ages 3 and up) with disabilities, allowing them the opportunity to have time to themselves, spend time with their other family members or friends, run errands, and take care of all those other activities that go into having a well-balanced life. MOON BEACH CAMP ~ St. Germain/Pilgrim Center, Ripon ~ Owned by the United Church of Christ – offers both youth camps and family camps. All are welcome, some scholarships available. TRAIL BLAZERS ~ Trail blazers is designed for active older teens to adults with mild to moderate cognitive delays and no physical disabilities. The session is packed with trail rides, dances, cookouts and campfires. You'll be swimming, canoeing, hiking, careating art, fishing, playing sports, making new friends and singing. You can even take trips into Wisconsin Dells or test your skills on our ropes course. Most of all, you will enjoy the company of friends and staff. WISCONSIN BADGER CAMP ~ Prairie du Chien ~ Overnight camp for youth and adults with developmental disabilities with one session for children ages 3 – 13, one session for young adults ages 14 – 25, and 8 sessions for adults over 18. WISCONSIN ELKS / EASTER SEALS RESPITE CAMP ~ Wisconsin Dells ~ If your loved one has mild to severe physical or cognitive disabilities, or has multiple disabilities and requires more individual attention, our camps may be a good fit for you. The Wisconsin Elks/Easter Seals Respite Camp is a fully accessible facility on 400 beautifully wooded acres located near Wisconsin Dells. Campers are matched one-on-one with a trained counselor in order to provide the best possible care. Medical care is provided by a nurse, who is on site 24 hours a day. WISCONSIN ELKS / EASTER SEALS RESPITE CAMP ~ Aspergers Porgram ~ Wisconsin Dells ~ This is the third year that the Wisconsin Elks/Easter Seals Repite Camp has offered sessions dedicated especially to kids who have Aspergers or high functioning autism. For the first time we are dedicating one week just to this session which will encompass ages 7 - 18 (programming will be split based on the two different age ranges). Campers will be paired two on one with a trained staff member who will encourage appropriate social interactions and active participation in activities. This population is unique in their needs, particularly socially and emotionally and the fun-filled week will include tons of activities that promote positive social interactions and new recreational opportunities. Activities will range from creative arts to sleeping out under the stars, ending each night with stories by the camp fire.
